Naumaan Ijaz is a veteran thespian of Pakistan, highly acclaimed and admired by all. He started out in films 20 years ago but soon moved to TV and theatre as he was not happy with the kind of films being made. He has done serials and talk shows, ads and music videos and writes and produces serials too. Currently, he has 9 projects on air on various TV channels in Pakistan. He enjoys acting the most and looks for different characters to portray, where he can showcase his abilities. Recently, he was a part of the first parallel cinema film in Pakistan, Ramchand Pakistani, directed by Mehreen Jabbar. He is looking forward to expanding his horizons by working outside Pakistan as well and is looking forward to doing meaningful roles in more Indian films.
Virsa is Naumaan Ijaz’s first Punjabi language film and his introduction vehicle for the Indian audiences. He plays the role of Nawaz Ali, 45, who hails from Lahore, Pakistan. About 20 years ago, he migrated to Sydney, Australia, where he met Ranvir and they became the best of friends. He also opened a store and found moderate success in this venture. Nawaz Ali is very grounded in his culture and has remained in touch with his roots. He visits his friends and family in Lahore every year. He has not got carried away by the comforts of his life in Australia and has not lot sight of his moral and ethical values. He respects his people, his culture and traditions.
Nawaz Ali is a counterpoint to Ranvir Singh. He is the person that Ranvir could have been and should have been but is not. Nawaz is the perfect blend of a good human being and a good father, husband, son and friend. He has retained his values and respect for his people and their traditions and has passed this on to the next generation also. He is the moral anchor of Virsa.
